it's a cursed season...

At least for me anyway. I started the season with a cold that wouldn't go away and now I'm ending the semi-final part of the season in the hospital.

No...I don't think it was Tatiana or Normund who put me here.

I'm not going to even pretend that that I'm going to watch tonight's episode, at least not until I return home. So everybody needs to hang out at Dave's.

Wow.. I'm so sorry to hear/read this Jennifer. I truly hope it's nothing serious and that you're back on your feet quickly. A co-worker and I read your blog religiously and believe you and Dave have the best blog out there! AI won't be the same until you're back and healthy. We'll keep you in our thoughts!
Take care.

I have also seen some pretty weird hospital bacon. I would stay away from that, too.

Hope you feel better soon!

Jennifer - it's been a tradition for me for the last four years to come to your site during your live blogs. SO, even though you're not here now, I'm going to pretend you are :)

For the wild card round we just saw the first two singers. They're having to HURRY IT UP because there's only one hour for 8 singers and the final decision.

Jesse went first and did a fine job with "Tell me something good" - you can tell she can really belt it out. She has talent, there's just something off-putting about her. But I wouldn't be sad if she made it through.

Then Matt G. came up and went back to his blues roots that served him so well during the first audition and Hollywood rounds. If he had done "Who's Lovin' You" the first time, he would have probably made it through then. He's going to be a hard one to beat.

Things are going much better already. We'll see how the others do.

(miss you)

okay, next up are Megan Joy Corkrey - who I thought screeched her whole song last time and really didn't get all the love she got from the judges. This time she sang "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" which was PERFECT for her range and style. Good job, the judges loved her and Kara went so far as to say she hopes Megan stays in the competition. Since the judges are the ones deciding this one, that was a pretty ringing endorsement.

Von went next time and sang "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word" - I thought he did a very good job technically - he held back and the blew forth and just the right times. Shouty McShouterson DEFINITELY learned his lesson which is a good thing. The judges weren't very nice to him, tho. Obviously, he's not one of the chosen ones.

commercial break, then Jasmine and Ricky.

side note - the song choices so far are LIGHT YEARS better than in their first round. Remember how Simon said he ought to choose their songs? I'm wondering if he did!

Maybe it's a good thing you're already in the hospital, Jennifer. Tatiana will be on shortly!

No kidding! The only thing interesting will be if she throws down the gauntlet and blows us all away.

I was going to say "here I am again by myself" but hey! at least Dave is here, too, to carry on the tradition with me!

Anyway, Jasmine sang some Disney movie song and did a good job and the judges gushed over her.

Ricky sang "Superstition" a la Stevie Wonder and was called "self indulgent" by Randy (does he even know what that means?), and Simon didn't like it, either. Boo.

You can tell they've already decided it's going to be Matt G., Jesse and Jasmine. The rest is just an exercise in futility.

p.s., glad dave is here with me :) I love dave's blog, too!

okay, i'm starting to feel like a dork, doing this alone. Like I'm being, as Randy would say, "self indulgent." But, like I said, it's tradition. And without Jennifer here, I've got to carry on and hope she's (you're) back soon.

So Tatiana totally redid the Whitney song she's already done twice, she did a pretty good job but the judges hammered her and made fun of her and she's a goner.

Anoop got the pimp spot, and did "My Perogative" a la Hollywood round. It would have been cool if he'd done some cool dance moves along with it. It was good and he's obviously in like Flynn. SO, I'm thinking now that the judges WILL put four through. The three I just said, plus Anoop.

We'll see.

I was right! Top thirteen - the wild card picks are:

Jasmine
Megan
Matt G.
Anoop

YAY! Now we can get down to the real business of American Idol!
