CAUTION: spoilers ahead...

Remember, it's "inspirational" night, so prepare to be inspired.

But don't read if you don't wanna know!

No word on performance order, but here are the songs, according to TMZ:

Syesha: I Believe (Fantasia). Uh oh. Another idol doing an Idol. Never a good idea.
David Cook: Innocent (Our Lady Peace).
Carly: The Show Must Go On (Queen). We've had more Queen songs this season than we had on Queen night in season 5. I swear.
Brooke: You've Got a Friend (James Taylor). Why am I not surprised?
Castro: Over the Rainbow (Judy Garland and a multitude of others). I don't know what to say.
Michael Johns: Dream On (Aerosmith). This should be good. Very good.
Kristy Lee Cook: Anyway (Martina McBride).
Archuleta: Angels (Robbie Williams).

Inspired choices by inspired contestants on an inspired week.

What more could we ask?

Well, how about an open thread to discuss and debate the inspirationalism of this very inspirational night? No?

Oh why not. I will be back tomorrow, sometime after I'm done with that day job that they insist I maintain even during Idol season. In the meantime, have at it.

Castro "Over The Rainbow"???
Oh come on -- I have never been a fan of that song - I think his days are numbered eventhough I really find the guy interesting.
Hope it is better than I am expecting.

DI has Carly in last place, with Syesha, Michael, and David C following. Its early so anything can happen.

I thought David A was great tonight.

Jason and Kristy were good.

Didn't like David C song choice, but I do like David C.

Carly did sound and looked angry.

Thought Michael and Brook were OK, but Brook's dress was ugly!

Jason rocked somewhere over the rainbow! I thought it was going to be seriously gay, but he did a great job! Why are the judges so freaking hard on Syesha? She's not a favorite of mine, but she is very talented.

I don't care what the judges say, Syesha blew Fantasia out of the water with that song. I liked Diana DeGarmo's version of the song better too. But I'm a huge Fantasia hater. She drives me absolutely out of my mind!

you guys are a blast :)

the wife and i talked about the show after watching, and here's some of our thoughts.
Wife's fav's:

David A
Syesha
Micheal
Kristy Lee
David Cook
Carly
Jason
Brooke

Have to say, I didn't think Brooke was bad, but she was just there, nothing to remember.

Found Jason boring, song seemed ok, but really, Kat's version was so big, even doing it differently doesn't do it for me. It just didn't have any punch for me.

Kristy was really good tonight, not sure what Randy was listening to tonight. Same with Syesha. I think i liked her version a little better than Fantasia's, but as Simon pointed out, Fantasia's had more emotion, duh, she'd just won the darn show with it :)

I didn't get David A's song, but it was done well I suppose, and David C needed less backup singers. I couldn't hear him over all the backups, so other than the cool jacket, I found this to be his least good of the show. MJ was pretty good as well. Carly did seem to be screaming a little too much, at least her face gave that impression.

I find it hard to pick a bad person tonight, none really bombed. But, I would say Jason's was the least entertaining, and I suspect Brooke, Carly and Syesha will rank down there as well, though I'm not sure Syesha deserves so this week.

Obviously too many people like David A, but I don't like his slightly nasally vocals (I suspect his voice hasn't finished changing), so it's hard to go against him, but I'm not sure that was my fav of the night due to it being not more upbeat a song. Top 3 though I think.

For me, I find it hard to pick a top, so I think I'll be by favorite 3, next 3, then last 2:

Kristy, David A and Michael I suppose for top honors

David C, Syesha, and Carly for middle 3

and Jason and Brooke in the bottom 2. Brooke I have liked a lot, but it just wasn't an attention getting song, and this group is so good right now, one poor week could end anyone other than D.A. and probably D.C.

my guess at a bottom 3 would be Jason, Carly and Syesha based on how things have been going, though Syesha deserves not to be there, and Brooke probably deserves to be the token visitor. Jason and Carly I suspect will be the bottom 2 with Jason going. I think it's even possible D.C could enter the bottom 3 since his song wasn't up to par, but that would be a super shocker since he should have a strong base to keep that from happening.

I pretty much think Kristy is likely to be the only girl safe to not be in the bottom because she was really on tonight, the other 3 were not as good, though Syesha was definitely better than the other 2. JC I think has lulled himself into going home finally though, which is a shame, because I picked him as a darkhorse to really shine a before the top 12 were selected :(

For some reason, the show has lost it's shine for me. I have been watching this show since season 1 and it seemed like there were more unknown, undiscovered talent but now the contestants have had their break in most cases.. But I still watch but not with the enthusiasm that I once did.

Anyway, I think the top one last night (I can't believe I'm saying this) was Kristy Lee.. I was very impressed followed by..

Syesha who I believe did a wonderful, powerful job. I don't understand how they keep telling them to be original and then compare them to the original artist.. come on.. judge her on how well she sang the song and stop playing with their heads.

Next was David A and did anyone notice how he has stopped the lip licking and giggling when being interviewed.. but he seems very uncomfortable now.. poor kid can't be himself. I know a lot of people hated those things about him but let the kid relax.. he looked so self conscience.

Next was Jason C.. I loved that version of Over the Rainbow and he did it very well. He redeemed himself in my eyes a bit and his little intro wasn't as dorky as usual.

Michael and David C are tied for fifth place. They seemed to be really off tonight for me for some reason.

Next is Carly, she seems to be so desperate now. And desperate doesn't look pretty.. I'm sorry. Her singing seems to be so strained, I like to see someone who is effortless.

And in last place is Brooke.. she has really lost her charm with all the talking back to the judges and her performance looked painful.

In the bottom three should be Brooke, Carly and should I say David C with Brooke going home.. but what do I know.. lol.. Kathryn

Can't figure out why the judges are so consistently hard on Ayesha. She was far and away the best of the night last night - and better than "nails on a chalkboard" Fantasia ever was.

Always hated that version of Rainbow, and Jason sounded pretty much the same as he always does - mediocre.

Top 3 for me: Ayesha, David A, Kristy. Bottom: Jason, Carly, Brooke
