news and notes...

From a quick trip around the inter-web:

Simon says it may not be an auto Archuleta coronation after all, the manically-waving mosh pit is a pain and Kristy Lee Cook is smart.

Next week is not country night - it's Dolly Parton night. And we'll be treated to a Dolly performance and a visit from the brothers Clark on results night. Might this mean no phone calls? Please?

David Cook's Billie Jean has skyrocketed to the top of the iTunes AI download list, displacing Brooke White's Let it Be, which had held the top spot for about two weeks. In fact, three of his studio recordings take up the top five list. And, for the first time, he has nudged David Archuleta in the AOL poll that's totally non-scientific, but still fun to vote in.

And speaking of David #2, Chris Cornell wants everyone to know that he has no problem with his arrangement of Billie Jean closing the show Tuesday. Heck, he shouldn't mind. His Billie Jean is enjoying an Idol bump, sitting at 36th on the top 100 iTunes song chart. Getting covered on Idol does have its perks, you know.

If you're putting your money where your votes are, Archuleta is still the odds-on favorite to win, but his odds are slowly dropping, while others' are gaining momentum. I wonder if they accept Monopoly money?

Dave is still trying to find a name for Ramiele. At this rate she may end up as T1W/OANBSGB -The One Without a Name Before She Got Booted. And Dave does not want to have to spell that one out, so save Dave. Save Ramiele.

Thanks for the plug, Jennifer.

I knew there was a reason why you are my interweb BFF!

Nine Dolly Parton songs next week, are you kidding me?? I love country music, but I cannot stand to hear all Dolly songs in one night. I would have opted for an all Reba night. In any case, I vote for Syesha to get "I will always love you". Thats the only song I can stand. Oh, and Dolly's remade Collective Soul's "Shine"...that's my pick for David Cook.

On another note of bringing back former contestants...
KEEP ANWAR AWAY FROM IDOL!!!!
I hated that guy soooo much, everything about him irked me from his "I think I'm the best here" persona to his awful expressions during his performances...and yes, I can honestly say that I would rather deal with the mosh pit AND ridiculous questions the rest of the season, than for one single appearance by Anwar.

Next week is going to be...um, interesting. Maybe Kenny Rogers will show up with his new "face" and sing Islands in the Stream. I enjoyed season 4's themes. Why couldn't they go back to them?

Dave's nickname for Ramiele should be LGBGFHGP, for Little Girl Big Voice(which he had) Funky Hair Good Personality (which she quoted in an interview).
Or how about something about her making fun of herself a few weeks back saying people were going to call her Ramiele Lullaby? I liked that too.

I'm excited for Dolly week. I think she's awesome! Who else could write a song on her fingernails?!?!

Yes, I'm already ready to predict an "Islands in the Stream" group sing and Syesha choosing "I Will Always Love You". Whitney-style, of course.

One of the things that people forget about Dolly is that she's actually a fairly prolific songwriter. Plus, she's covered a zillion songs, too. So if they can do songs she's recorded or written, the catalog might actually be pretty deep.

The Clark Brothers won The Next Great American Band show that was on Fox, I think over last summer? I don't know, time flies... but they were awesome, kinda "neo blue grass" if there is such a thing. I love them.

Dolly Parton is extremely talented as a song writer and is a very smart lady. They will benefit from her mentoring and will have some great songs to choose from. I'm not a big fan of country music, but I do love Dolly. Gotta love someone that doesn't take themselves seriously at all but is so successful.

I hope Simon can make the mosh pit go way.

Also I heard that this group Doxology is whining because David #2 supposedly did a cover of their cover of Eleanor Rigby and didn't give them proper credit. Whatever.

As long as they don't all *sing* like Dolly...

(I actually like Ms. Parton, but can only take so much of her voice at once. Thank goodness she's gonna pimp with only one song.)

As for Ramiele...How about UPG? (Unrealized Potential Girl) It's kinder than "Wasted Potential" but gets the same message across. She just hasn't performed to the best of her ability, which is too bad.

I am not buying the song spoilers. Maybe they're legit, but it is April Fools Day and I don't trust any website that spells "their" "there."

I know, I know. I'm anal like that.
