let's chat about the guys...

Because I will be half-watching and fully-recording, and won't be able to moan and groan about the guys until tomorrow, we're having an open chat thread. Who's bad and who's good? Who's hawt (Luke) and who's not? Who should stay and who should take the first bus out of California?

Let's dish...

You first.

Michael was the class of the night. There is a solid second tier, but the bad singers are gawd-awful.

I hope Danny, Jason, Garrett and Luke get the axe before the Top 12 (the order doesn't matter).

My favorite of the night was Jason Castro. I thought that Michael Lee Johns should have been better. Luke was just nervous. He'll get it up...i mean...he'll do better next time. LOL Garrett is HISTORY! Him and either Chicken Fricassee Eze or Jason Yeagermister.

Stay worthy performances of the night:

1. Micheal Johns - HOT!
2. Jason Castro - Cute - looking forward to hearing more of him
3. David Archuleta - Great voice
4. David Cook - Pretty good

Were okay but will make it to next week:

1. Robbie Carrico - He has an edge
2. Danny Noriega - I love him and want to see more of him next week
3. Colton Berry - Nice voice
4. Garrett Haley - Want to see more from him
5. David Hernandez -Nice voice but boring performance this week. I would like to see what he brings next week
6. Jason Yeager - boring song, but might pull heart strings with his son

On the chopping block this week:

1. Chikezie Eze - boring - not a strong performance
2. Luke Menard - Weak voice - lame outfit - boring - this guy should have come out in Justin Timberlake looking clothes - vest, dress shirt. He is good looking and should have worked that

Going home on Thursday is between Chikeze, Luke, David Hernandez, and Jason Yeager.

I am going to have to change my first final 12 predictions based on what I saw tonight. Oh boy!

Danny Noriega and Garrett Haley will probably be the first to face the firing squad. Luke will also be in the bottom three.

Bye bye Chikicheese.
Bye bye Allen DeGeneres.
Bye bye Leif Garrett Haley.
Bye bye Yagermeister.

Any 2 of the 4 will go Thursday. Take your pick.

My favorites of the night:

David Archuletta. I LOVE this kid! I said to my husband while he was singing (David singing, not my husband), "He loves to perform! Look at him go!" He's too cute for words. (Again, David not my husband. Though my husband is pretty easy on the eyes!)

David Cook. He doesn't *look* like Chris Daughtry but that's who he reminds me of. There's something about the quality of his voice that's reminiscent of Chris when he was on AI. LOVE this guy almost as much as Chris!

David Hernandez. I know he hasn't gotten any air time and I know he was as scared as a rabbit caught in a flash-light beam, but this guy can sing! I really hope he gets more chances to shake the nerves and prove he's got game.

Jason Castro. There's just something about this guy that gives me a peaceful easy feeling. He's just cool. Plus I'm a sucker for shy, humble guys.

Robbie Carrico. He's this year's Bo Bice. I thought his vocals weren't that strong, but they were ah-ight. However, he's got something that compels me to keep watching. I guess he's got IT.

Michael Johns. This guy is gonna make it to Top 3. He could win the whole thing. LOVE him!

Well it was an interesting night.. my favorites, David Archuleta (how cute is he... the little girls will love him as well as the little girl's mothers and the little boy's mothers come to think of it), Danny Noriega (he is so over the top gay that it's hilarious to watch him and he can sing), Michael Johns (I liked him from the first few snippits of his try outs) and Jason Castro (although I'm not a fan of dread locks he has a real nice voice)..

Who do I think is leaving Thursday?
Jason Yager and Chikezie Eze. Sorry guys but you're history. It wasn't as good a night as I thought it would be.

For the girls, I didn't see all of them in the tryouts so I really can't make a prediction until after tonight.

David Archuletta is great until he finishes singing. Put the interview mike in front of him and he has no clue what to say. He turns into a seventeen year old all over again. He will take all of the pre-teen votes and most of the moms as well. If he continues to pick the right songs for his voice and age, he will go very deep into this competition.

Favorites of the night: Michael Johns, Jason Castro, David Archuleta (how adorable IS this kid?), and David Cook. The rest were ai-ight, as Randy would say.

It was kind of funny to watch David Archuleta morph from a poised singer into a 17-year-old again, once his song was over. He got a little giddy afterward, although I suspect that was just a release of tension. I'm with drilleraa: He has the pre-teen vote for sure, and I think a lot of moms and grandmas will find him endearing. He'll most likely go far in the competition.

Best line from last night:
"I bought my first puppy to that song."--Simon, in reference to "Moon River"

Ok, everyone thinks Jason Yeager is going to be on the chopping block, I have a feeling he is going to get the "grandma" vote (not that there is anything wrong with that, because I personally thought his performance was good in an Osmond brothers kind of way), and he will get at least one more week to prove himself. I think Chikezie cheesey will be out, easy, easy. He wasn't that good, was too cocky and back talked way too much. Its ok to be a little feisty, but not to that extent, especially in the first week. And rounding out the bottom three will be Leif Garrett and either Colton Berry or David Hernandez. Both have nice voices, but David got stuck with the worst spot possible especially since he had little air time and his performance barely registered on the wow meter. Both of those guys have nice voices but didn't really do much for themselves in their performances or song choices. Ultimately Chikezie cheesy and Leif Garrett will be disappearing into pop culture oblivion and will only have the memory of their 15 minutes of fame to pass on to their grandchildren.

Well Last night was much better then it was a year ago. I think there are some pretty good ones.

Don't think Chikezie will be around too long.

If the girls are as good, I'd say we have a real show this year!

Not seeing the reason for all the David A. hype...Dialidol has him first....no denying he's a great little performer but I can't help but think it's taking all he has in him to get the words out, but at the same time his high notes are better than his low notes.

MLJ FTW.

Jason Castro, wow!

The rest are either a tie or shouldn't even have showed up.

I really just want Danny to go home..and the Leif Garret kid creaps me out a little..how did he get chosen over Kyle and Josiah?

Jason Yeager, unless his kid becomes his sympathy ticket, will be going home, soon. Luke may be hawt, but the dude can't sing. And although I don't agree with the scalding reviews of Garrett's performance, I can see the creep factor...Dude needs a haircut. And Chickezie may be gone before I can learn to spell his name correctly.

I liked Garrett fine, didn't get why Simon thought he was so awful.

Michael Johns annoys me, he seems contrived.

My favorites were David Arch. and Jason Castro, too.

Feel sorry for Luke and Jason yager - they should be voted off.

"CR" - Aww, shucks... am I, really?

You're pretty cute, too :-)

I agree with your pans, and mostly with your picks - except, as we discussed earlier, David Cook. Oh - and except for anything you wrote having to do with their cuteness, etc. :-)
