listen to the single...

Jordin's first effort, soon to be heard in supermarkets everywhere.

And while you're there, check out AOL's list of the top 20 Idol performances - evah - and tell me if you think they're on crack.

For instance, Daughtry's Wanted Dead or Alive better than Clarkson's Stuff Like that There? Elliott's Open Arms better than all of his others?? Blake's You Give Love a Bad Name over Clay's Bridge Over Troubled Water??? Pickler on the list but Tamyra Gray isn't????

And tell us if you'll buy Jordin's single.

What was that song Kelly sang last night..."Kiss My A.. You Lyin', Cheatin' B.st..d"? Talk about an angry young woman. I don't know what relationship inspired that song, but someone is still chapped!

Maybe it was "Never Again, You Lyin' Cheatin' B.st..d".

...at least "Nikki McKibbin" isn't there ;)

...Remember? She beat Tamyra and Christina Christian in Season 1.

Oh my goodness... I just checked out that top 20 list - Almost completely ridiculous. "My Funny Valentine" for Melinda?? Ok, she did every song great, but what about "I Got Rhythm"? Or "I'm A Woman"? or... pretty much anything but her Latin song? Crazyness!! Same goes for Taylor. "You Are So Beautiful", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", heck, even "Play That Funky Music White Boy"... I could go on. The list was nuts.

Until I saw the finale the other night, I forgot how good Ruben Studdard was. I miss his performances. He always had a great big smile and was covered with a gallon of sweat - Ah, Ruben....

I thought Chris Daughtry's best performance was Hemmorage, and I thought Jordin's was Broken wing (but a close second was I Who Have Nothing). And though he did nothing else legit on the show I would have put Ace's Father Figure up there in place of Pickler any day. This makes me want to go back and revise my list.

hey, just curious since most everyone else has been covered. What ever happened to Diana Digarmo from season 3? Wasn't that the closest finale vote of any season, and she had a powerhouse voice, and cute as a button. How come we haven't seen anything from her? I liked her, she was the first one I actually voted for I think :)

DeGarmo is doing quite well now on Broadway.

Hemmorhage was Daughtry's best performance, Laura. You're right. I need to make my own list too.

Jennifer, thanks for the top 20 list. Didn't really agree with it, but we all have are favorites.

Actually, I think the Clay-Ruben finale of Season 2 was the closest. But I'm not positive. *shrugs*

I don't completely agree with their list, but it DID bring back some nice memories.

I think season 2 was the closest too. Season 3 was close. Seasons 1 and 4 (and probably 5) were runaway wins. I'll be curious about this year. My guess is that it will fall in the middle.

I remember Ryan telling them the votes were only 3500 apart in Season 2

jr - The song is called "Never Again"

kathryn - I thought the video was pretty good. I liked how the man kept thinking he was seeing her though, and the airport scene was the best.

The first time I watched Idol was the Clay vs. Reuben finale. That was really good. I thought that list was ridiculous. I guess a lot of music appreciation is subjective. I missed the season with Kelly Clarkson but I didn't like the song she sang for this finale at all. I wonder if Jordin's voice will actually get better with maturity. I think we will be hearing her name for a long time. Did anyone else feel that since Melinda was a professional singer it would have been unfair if she won?

Jordin is also a professional. She toured 2 years (summers?) as a backup singer for Michael W. Smith. Hard to believe - did you know she is only 17?

Just listened to Jordin's single, then went to the top 20 list. While there I listened to Diana DeGarmo's song. It was then that I realized exactly how bad this season was. I mean, I always knew it was bad, but this confirmed it.

Diana was throaty and powerful, Jordin was thin and shrill. If those two had been in the finals together, Diana would have creamed her.

But Jordin is only 17, SO don'twe have to take that into consideration? Oh, wait, Diana was only 16 at the time of her appearance.

Give me Diana any day over Jordin.

To me, there was always something in Diana's performances that reminded me she was young (perhaps not 16, but young nonetheless). Only when Jordin stopped singing was I reminded that she is 17. Vocally, I agree - I'll take Diana over Jordin.

Has anyone seen a picture of Diana recently? She's lost alot of weight, I think she's like a size 2, and her hair is red. She looks good, just different.

JJ...lol

"Never Again" was written by Kelly Clarkson over 2 years ago as a way to vent some hostility towards an ex. She had been dating former Evanescence member David Hodges, who cheated on her, and broke her heart. The song came out of that experience.

Jennifer, Season 2 was, indeed, the closest final. There was less than 1% separating Clay and Ruben. I wonder if Florida voted...

As for the Top 20 List, umm...nope! Can't say I agree with many of them. Let me think if I can come up with my own list.

I can't include Season 1; I didn't start watching until Season 2.

Honorable Mention:
Nikko Smith - "Let's Get it On." I was blown away by his vocals and downright sensuality on this song. He totally channeled Marvin Gaye!

20) Nadia Turner - "Power of Love." She completely ROCKED the house!

19) Kimberly Locke - "New York State of Mind." Classy, understated, simply perfect.

18) Mandisa - "I'm Every Woman." Simply fffffabulous!

17) Ruben Studdard - "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart." I kept wishing he was on this season when it was BeeGee's night. He was SO good on this song!

16) Clay Aiken - "Bridge Over Troubled Waters." Hauntingly beautiful.

15) Jennifer Hudson - "Circle of Life." What a powerhouse!

14) Taylor Hicks - "In the Ghetto." Uncharacteristically understated. It was my favorite of his.

13) Paris Bennett - "Midnight Train to Georgia." Yup. I agree with this one! Just amazing for such a young girl!

12) Constantine - "Bohemian Rhapsody." I didn't think it could be done, but he did it! He had just the right balance of RockerDude and Freddy-esque flair to pull it off.

11) Chris Daughtry - "Hemorrhage." Every bit as good as the original.

10) Clay Aiken - "Mac the Knife." BOTW was really good, but he busted out as THE Performer on MTK. Plus, that tux was really cool. I still have this one recorded.

9) Chris Daughtry - "Dead or Alive." Every bit as good as the original!

8) Melinda Doolittle - "Funny Valentine." Pure perfection. I saved this performance on tape.

7) Blake Lewis - "You Give Love a Bad Name." He took the risk, and it paid off! Unforgettable!

6) Bo Bice - "Vehicle." This is how to perform a song! And I hate that everyone copies his micstand-totin' move. He was the original!

5) Lakisha - "And I'm Telling You." Pure brilliance. She did J-Hud proud.

4) Elliot Yamin - "Moody's Mood for Love." How could this have been left off the list?! It was this song that made the judges really sit up and take notice. It was a master's class on how to sing!

3) Bo Bice - "In a Dream." The a capella song. Brave, brave, brave! And amazing...

2) Bo Bice - "Whipping Post." To date, this remains my No. 1 favorite performance by any singer of any season.

1) Fantasia - "Summertime." Probably the single best performance by any contestant of any season. I'll never forget it. (Not to be confused with my *favorite* performance ever: See Bo Bice, "Whipping Post.")

Hi Jennifer!!

How's the summer treating you?

I was thinking this weekend and realized that last season you were posting until August while this season got one post-finale post. Just more evidence that this was a BAD season!!
