tuesday's songs as we know of them...

On Tuesday, as is done in all final three performance episodes, there will be no theme and no mentor. They will each perform three songs.

Each of the kids will chose a song on their own with no constraints (aside from clearance). One of the judges will choose a song for one of the contestants (which either allows the kids to shine or throws them under a bus). Clive Davis, with whom the winner may sign, will select one song for each of the three kids (which will allow them to shine or get hit by a second bus just in case the first bus missed).

Keep an eye out for this entry, because as we know (or think we do) of song selections, they'll be found here.

JORDIN

Personal choice: I Who Have Nothing, the song she performed brilliantly during British Invasion night.

Judge's choice: (Simon) Wishing On a Star (Rose Royce, Beyonce).

BLAKE

Judge's choice: (Paula) Roxanne (The Police).

MELINDA

Judge's choice: (Randy) I Believe in You and Me (Whitney Houston).

As I remember, weren't the Clive Davis picks last year absolutely horrid? I think he chose "I Believe I Can Fly" for VCM, "Open Arms" for ell-E-ott, and "Dancing In the Dark" for DLS. (It feels good to use last year's name one more time).

The songs were so bad, Randy told Katharine, "That was the wrong song for you" and she could only reply, "I didn't pick it!"

Either he was in Paula's sauce when he picked the songs or he was deliberately trying to screw with them just to see how they'd do.

I half expect him to choose "It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" for Melinda.

I like Paula's choice for Blake, but what the heck is Randy doing to Melinda. Not only does he pick a Whitney song, but a BAD whitney song. And Simon was complaining about Jordin being "pageanty" and then he picks a pageant song for her!
And I thought personal choice for top 3 night was supposed to be something new so how is Jordin doing "I Have Nothing" again? The Repeat performances usually occur in the top 2.

Ma, you're asking the $64,000 questions. Don't have a clue. Will be very interesting to see what Clive has up his antique sleeve.

Maybe they're throwing all of them under a train and are gonna crown Sanjaya?

Top 3 is supposed to be a new song for personal choice, but nothing about this season is as it's supposed to be.

C'mon Randy!! You must be kidding. How do you not pick "Proud Mary" for Melinda??

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I actually think Paula picked the best song for her contestant.

jennifer- you are right, this season has certainly been an odd one. maybe after they realized Simon's choice they decided to give Jordin a chance to save herself.

getting curious- I really thought someone would pick Proud Mary for her... They've said that she has flashes of Tina, and she needs a song she can go nuts with. I can't believe Randy saddled her with that song. I hope she chooses something fun for herself.

I dread Clive's picks for all of them...

This has always been a strange week during the competition for me. I never understand Clive's song choice for any of the contestants. If it turns out to be a great choice, it's probably and accident.
Simon seems to pick songs that no one would pick for a contestant, however, they do often work out for the best i.e. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and McPhever!
Randy's middle name should be "Greyhound". You preach all year about "don't do Miriah, Whitney, or Celine dawg, 'cause when they did it dawg, they did it right the first time dawg, ya know what I'm sayin' dawg? Dawg, I'm just keepin' real, ya know?" Then you give your contestant a Whitney song. If ya ain't gonna live it, don't preach it dawg!!! Ya know what I'm sayin'?

They should have a week where the fans vote for what song they should sing. That would spark some interest. Give them a choice of 5 songs - have them vote the Wednesday night that results come out. Just throwing that out there.

I have always thought Blake should sing that song from the 60's called "She's come Undone" by the Guess Who - it has a little bit of his beat box thing to it -

Wow. This time, a year ago, we were all counting down the minutes until the show started. There were multiple postings here. The anticipation and enthusiasm was infectious.
And tonight I feel like I will be tuning in because it is my Tuesday evening tradition.
Oh well.
And yes, I still visit this blog regularly. Because this blog still rocks!

There are rumors that Clive's pick for Melinda is a Tina Turner song.

LOL Last year we were thinking a lot of things that haven't been thought of this time around. :::sigh:::

There's also a rumor that Clive didn't pick at all, that Nigel did. Even the spoilers don't care.
