Sundance should not have made it this far. That was painful.

Blake was good tonight, though. Really good.

blake, sanjaya, jared cotter, chris richardson and phil stacey were the only ones that did well enough to move to the next round.

I thought the only ones who helped themselves were Blake and Chris Sligh. I thought Sanjaya, Paul and Phil were bad. Everyone else was just "meh".

It seems to me, based on the song choices tonight, that many of the guys are playing not to lose. No one came off like they were trying to win.

I thought Paul and Sanjaya were bad. BAAAAAD. Nobody was good. The rest were eh.

Not to lose. Good assessment. No risk = boring. I hope the girls took notes.

Work sucks, Dave. Hopefully by finals, things will be better.

Real life interfering with Idol. How offensive!

I was supposed to be working tonight. I blew off grading papers for American Idol.

Get your priorities straight, Jennifer. ;)

Who is going home on Thursday from the guys night:

Sanjaya Malakar
Rudy Cardenas

Most of the guys were boring tonight but these two stick out in my mind as the most boring. I could add to this list...but it will only be two from the guys.

I was most impressed with Blake Lewis, Jared Cotter, and AJ Tabaldo. I am feeling the connections being made and it feels good!

I am so excited for tomorrow night. Girlfriend (Ryan)

Loved Brandon hated Paul. I hope Sanjaya gets to stick around a little longer I enjoy watching him. Blake surprised me pleasantly. Hope the girls bring it tomorrow night.

-I think the best of them all was Blake Lewis,
-Then Phil Stacey although when he started to sing I thought (oh oh.. this is going to be torture!) when he hit the high notes he reminded me of Clay Aitken for some reason.
-Then next for me was Chris Sligh who I hope doesn't get too cocky (he didn't seem to have the nerves going on like the rest of them...) because there's a fine line between being snappy and being obnoxious,
-I liked Nick Pedro although I don't know if it's his singing or the fact that he's so gosh darned CUTE!
- If Chris Richardson could get a handle on his nerves I think that he'll do well although his song last night was pretty pitchy to me.
- and my last pick is split between Brandon Rogers and Jared Cotter.

There were none that I thought "wow he's great" but in comparison to what we had last night Blake stood out from the rest.. I hope the girls do better because I think we're in trouble if they don't...

Your Canadian AI fan who sadly can't vote.. Kathryn

Paul needs to put on his walking shoes, because he's going home.
Sanjaya may join him, but I think Sundance is on the bubble. How appropriate that everyone was dressed in gray tonight. It was really that boring.
The girls (Melinda and Lakisha) will chew them up and spit them out.

Blake definitely surprised me last night. I didn't know what to expect since, as he said himself, all they'd really shown of him was his beat boxing. He has a nice voice. I think he'll sail through this round with no problems.

Overall, I'm sorry to say that I wasn't terribly impressed. I hate to sound like the judges, but it did seem that a lot of them were "playing it safe", rather than going all out to prove why they deserve to be there. A few of them did take risks, but still...a few performances also weren't that great either.

My pick to go home: Rudy. I didn't care for the song choice, and, to quote Simon, the whole performance seemed sort of cabaret. I had flashbacks to Bobby from last season, who sang "Copacabana" in the first round. Not a good move for him--or for Rudy for that matter. Unless people broke their fingers dialing for him, he may be going home tomorrow.

Your Right Kathryn about Chris Sligh. Its one thing to be funny another to be cocky. Simon for one won't like it, he's cocky enough for everyone. I did like Blake last night and Phil was better then I remembered. I do think Nick is adorable, but they all need to get over being nerves and do better. I hope the girls are better tonight! dk / Dori

I thought Chris Sligh, Chris Richardson, Blake Lewis were the best of the night. Brandon was a total let down and Sanjawhatever reminded me of the Brady Bunch Era.

They were all nervous! I have never seen a group that nervous!

Ugh, I'm gonna need a lot of Diet Coke to get me through this season.

As far as Chris Sligh goes, there's being snarky and being obnoxious. If he crosses that line and ceases to be entertaining & clever, and instead turns mean-spirited or whiney, then he'll be gone quickly.

I think he's a likable guy, but unless he can really sing, he might not go very deep into the top 12.

Okay...where is Chris Daughtry when you need him?! Oh wait...he's on my desk in his little CD case! :)

The guys were completely uninspiring. I think nerves really got to them. The guys were singing to "not go home." That's a great assessment. None of them played to win. Having said that, however, I have a few comments to make about individual performances:

Rudy - bad song and not-so-great performance. But did anyone else think that he kinda sounded like Steve Perry when he got into his upper register? If he had sung "Wheel in the Sky" or "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" he might not be the one going home. As it is, I think we've seen the last of him.

Sundance - He really should've picked a bluesy song. It's what we liked so much about him from his first audition. But "Knights in White Satin" was not a good song choice. Even still, I expected better vocals from him. :(

Sanjaya - I don't care if the song was boring...this kid is just plain adorable! And he really does have a great voice. I just think he needs more experience. He seemed a bit uncomfortable up there, like he didn't know what to do with his hands or feet. But I think he'll stick around for another round based solely on his cuteness.

Nick - I really like him! I love his voice, but he seemed really nervous. Again, someone who didn't know what to do with his hands. He just needs to loosen up a bit and pick better songs. I think he'll be back.

Chris - hehehe He amuses me! And I actually liked his song and performance quite a bit. It's not the most recognized song, so that could hurt him. But I like the song and liked how he sang it. We'll see him in the top 12.

Phil - It started out rough...the song was way too low in the beginning. But when he hit the chorus, OH MY! He's got a fantastic quality to his voice! I agree with the woman who said it reminded her of Clay Aiken. That's what I said to my husband!

Blake - He was a surprise! I don't remember hearing his voice at all during auditions...just the beatbox. The song he sang is one of my faves, and he did a great job on it. It was a perfect choice for his voice. :)

AJ - He looked like he had a lot of fun up there! I wasn't crazy about the song, but his energy was infectious and I found myself dancing along and cheering him on.

Brandon - When he first started to sing, I was like, "ohhhh this is gonna be gooood!" Then the tempo picked up and I was disappointed. Even so, I like him a lot and believe he'll make it to the top 12.

Overall, it was a forgettable night. I hope that changes in the coming weeks otherwise the women are going to eat them for lunch.
