silly love songs: a simulblog...

Wednesdays mean only one thing: time to destroy the hopes and the dreams of another young person, leaving her awash in tears, regret and appointments with talk shows from coast to coast.

Yes. Heartbreak. The staple of love songs. That's why we love this show.

So that also means it's time for a simulblog, live blogging the results show as it's airing, so if you don't want to know beforehand and you live in the West, you might want to avoid this place for a few hours. (But please come back!) I'll be publishing at every important stop, so keep refreshing if you want to know.

Because THIS is American Idol!

Over 47 million trillion gazillion votes were cast last night, Ryan tells us, a non-finale record. Perhaps they should provide two phone lines per kid from the start. Then they could really beat their chests. Ryan admonishes the judges, telling them they were too harsh last night. Simon apologizes to Katharine, conceding that they were too tough on the girl after her button-popping performance.

Katharine looks happy.

We get to see the retrospective of last night's events, because we absolutely must squeeze out as many minutes as possible so as to rush the results and end the show three bars into the ousted kid's final performance.

The crappy Ford commercial is like the best ever, as the kids are chasing down a lost pup to the tune of Call Me. They spy the pup. They burst from the Chevy. Uhh, I mean Ford. They run. They chase. They catch up. And they discover Mr. Pup has been keeping a secret family all along.

Ahhhhhhh. We love the pups.

Andrea Bocelli performs Because We Believe, from [shock!] his newest CD, Amore. Gee, sounds like a song Tamyra Gray would write. My review? For Bocelli fans: it was wonderful, beautiful, poignant. For non-Bocelli fans: meh. There. I did the work. You choose.

The kids rush the stage, after Elliott makes sure it's legal, and everybody's just happy, happy, happy! Can't wait for that to change...

Lisa Tucker is in the house, just in time to pimp her appearance on the O.C.

As promised, the kids are getting split into three groups of two. Kat goes to Team Kat on the far side of the stage. Elliott is sent to Team Elliott in the middle. Pickler begins Team Pick on the near side.

Paris is sent to Team Pick. Uh oh. Sorry Paris. Taylor is told to join Team Elliott. That's good. Chris is obviously going to part of Team Kat.

So we have Kat/Chris, Taylor/Elliott and Pickler and Paris.

Ryan sends Team Elliott back to the sofa. Thank you Ryan.

And of course we now must sell 18 minutes of commercial time....

We have Team Kat on the left and Team Pick on the right. Anybody want to take any bets on who's who? Didn't think so.

Team Kat is told to sit down because they are the highest vote getters.

Now we're left with the P girls and we get to get a diatribe from the third P girl, Paula. Kellie says she deserves to be where she is. Both look resigned to go.

Kellie Pickler says goodbye. And we say goodbye to her.

So long Kellie. So, so, sooooo long.

She had a Bad Day. And she didn't even get to sing. She gets to talk. Oh well, it's Pickler. She was better known for talking anyway.

Good luck Pickler.

Missed the show due to business travel and flight delays. Got to the hotel, fired up the wireless internet and headed straight to your blog. Thank you, thank you, thank you Jennifer and America!!!
Pickles, snot rag and all, are headed off to rehearse for the tour. Don't kid yourselves, with some coaching, polish, and the right agents, Pickles will be a rising star in Country music within the next couple of years. She just isn't your American Idol.

I'm not shocked, this isn't a singing contest, even though it's supposed to be. It's about who's the prettiest or best looking, Elliot sings rings around the rest and he doesn't get the support he should. Glad Pickler is gone. Paris could go next, she would do better if she just wouldn't talk. I don't know why the judges always say she sings to old, so what, she sings good, thats all that should count. Everyone has to start somewhere, although her family could get her started just fine. Taylor was pretty quiet tonight, I think he knew he was just so-so last night. Chris, Kat wonder who needs the biggest mirror.

WOW!!!!

I just... just... Can't believe it!!!! The Pickle is gone!!! *** I'm going to sleep thinking that there is some justice in this world***

But my fear for Elliott just got higher... If he were in the top two I wouldn't sleep at all just being afraid for next week (you know, people would think on the next week that he wouldn't be in danger and wouldn't vote for him...).

Good night, guys!

Did you see everyone crying (including Elliott) when they voted Pickles out? Ok, so she knew she was going, she knew she deserved to go, but I now can't stand Paris! I would have stood another week of Kellie over her. Did you hear what she said when they asked her how many times she was there? Of course she's going to say it's her first time in the bottom 2. That's because she's been in the bottom 3 like 4 times already! Next week, so long Man Girl! You can have Grandma set you up with an album and see how many sales you get.

p.s.~ Kat was one of the top 2!!! I voted all night for her thinking she was going to be in the bottom with the girls after the judges rude remarks! She deserved that apology hands down! And btw, NO mirrors needed, she and chris are just overly gracious that America loved them the most!

Wow, I'm mean and defensive tonight! Sorry guys! (insert blush face)

: scratching my chin : hmmmm, interesting an apology comes from Simon AND Randy to Katharine and we learn she is one of the top two vote getters. Things that make ya go hmmmmmm, huh?

On a more deliriously exciting note, Kellie is finally eliminated! Amen.

Have a great week everyone!

Thank god it was Pickler and not Paris, though I think we see Paris in the bottom again next week and she will be against someone tougher to overcome - Elliot.

...AND THE PEASANTS REJOICED!!!!

There'll be weeping and gnashing of teeth in Picklerville. Oh well. So sorry.

Next week Paris will get her turn to say bye-bye. Kat will stay one more week after that. And then the REAL competition begins!!! All male F3!!

woo woo woo!!!! *pumping fist* Can't wait.

Hey purplvr...

Yea, I noticed the song was different. For a split second, I thought it was a different song altogether and was about to jump for joy. But alas...same song, sadder arrangement. After the first few bars, I muted it and read the closed captioning. I am SO sick of that song!!

Last night, all was good in Idol Land. The cheesy Ford video was cute, Elliott was safe, and Pickler got, well, Picked to get the boot. (I wanted to lead a victory parade through the neighborhood, but thought it was a bit much.)

And kudos to Simon for apologizing to Katharine. She deserved that apology. And now that we have a good top 5, the competition is ON.
