three guys, a girl and rock & roll...

And there's something in it for each of them.

The reported list is here, but we all know the list of 500 will be pared to about 7.

So, who should sing what?

Hmmm. That list is kinda huge to deal with. I would kinda like to hear David C. do House of the Rising Sun, though.

And I'd like to hear Jason sing "So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehn, Adieu" from the Sound of Music.

Jason should totally do a Bob Dylan song - like Tangled Up In Blue...and give it all he's got, for a change. I read on ew.com that he was quoted as saying he's "kind of ready to go home" - which I can see that, he's probably not a competitive guy and he's out of his element.

DrillerAA - Great minds think alike!

OK, how about either Chain of Fools or Dancin' in the Street for Syesha?

And how about (now stay with me and think about it for a sec), Knights in White Satin for David A.

PS: Jennifer - you forgot to gray-out Brooke.

I wonder how this new theme will help the kids get on today's pop chart. All of the songs on that list are at least 10 years old.

We should not be surprised that the Idol winners fail so often; they're not groomed for the pop chart . . . of 1986!

WOW, 500 songs, they sure have a lot to pick from.

House of the Rising son is perfect for David C, and If I had a hammer sounds like it would be a Jason song. You guys are good.

In keeping with his tendency to perform "up with people" songs, don't be surprised if The Arch whips out "Give Peace a Chance".

Also, keeping in character (picking songs that are bigger than she is), I'll go with "Respect" for Syesha.

I'll take Peter Tosh's "Legalize It" for Jason and "Dream On" for Cook.

I'll tell you what I don't want to see - David Archuleta doing Ziggy Stardust.

lol @ Arch doing Ziggy Stardust!

Here is a list of songs I think each one could do. As far as what I'd lurrrve to *hear* them sing, I put asterisks before those songs.

David C. - Dream On, *The House of the Rising Sun, I Put a Spell on You, *The Thrill is Gone, Fly Like an Eagle, Money, *Roxanne, Black Magic Woman, Night Moves, *Pride and Joy

David A. - *Your Song, Give Peace a Chance, *Nights in White Satin, Suspicious Minds, A Whiter Shade of Pale, *Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Jason - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, *Norwegian Wood, Tangled Up in Blue, *Maybe I'm Amazed, Dock of the Bay, *Fire and Rain,

Syesha - I Only Have Eyes For You, *Chain of Fools, The Loco-Motion, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, *Something to Talk About

For me, the only problem with The Arch singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is that Clay did it very well back in season 2. Yes, that was five years ago, but not only will I compare him to Simon & Garfunkel, but I'll compare him to Clay.

As this show goes on, there are fewer and fewer songs for the kids to claim as their own, especially since Idol seems intent on not letting them sing anything from the last five years.

I have to weigh in with Dave on this one...as much as I love young David, he could never do what Clay did with "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
