girls gone whitney!...

The eight remaining ladies take on the 80s, a decade that none of them probably remember. And no Whitney Houston song is safe. Nor are we.

I'll be back tomorrow to tell the world my views on the quality of the performances, so for now, it's an open thread, for anyone and everyone who wants to praise or pan them, their wardrobe, their song choices or their hairstyles.

Have at it...

As much as I thought the guys were much better last night than the girls were tonight, I still thought it was a pretty good night (especially compared to the 2 weeks prior)!

I had to definitely compare the two "Whitneys" tonight, and Syesha was FAR better than Asia'h. I thought Asia'h was all over the place, and Syesha was just about spot on. I'm really sick of the judges talking about how great Asia'h is, I just don't see it at all. But then again, I hated the Bobo Fantasia. What do I know?

Brooke and Ramiele were my favorites tonight, and Kristy Lee wasn't too bad either. Kady was definitely off, and Amanda, well everyone pretty much has the same opinion of her. Carly was in the middle, but I had to look back at Jennifer's list, cos I had already forgotten about her.

Til tomorrow.....

I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand Fantasia. I almost gave up on American Idol that year I was so p----- off. lol

I thought Brooke and Ramiele were the best. I know Ramiele has done better, but I just think she's great.

I don't get the big deal with Carly. Plus I don't know if its one big one or a hundred tiny ones, but that Tattooed arm is distracting. I keep looking at it and thinking, my god that must of hurt!

Since Carly and her husband own a tattoo parlor, I'm sure it started off small, then more was added to it slowly. The guy that owns the tattoo place in my town, his wife won a bunch of awards for her tattoo. It practically covers her entire back and arm, possibly more by now, but its pretty neat. Not something I would do myself though!

I think it's one large tattoo, but it was done in stages. Something that size takes multiple sessions to complete (typically). And yeah!! Dang that would hurt!! lol

I've been on the fence with Brooke since she's been in the top 24. But oh my gosh!! She totally blew me away tonight! My favorite BY FAR! I love Pat Benatar and absolutely LOVE that song. So when I heard what Brooke was fixin' to sing, I thought, "Uh oh...not good!" I just couldn't imagine her doing PB. But her rendition was so far removed from the original (and really, REALLY cool!) that it was just brilliant. I don't know WHAT THE HECK Randy was talking about when he said, "You didn't do anything new to it." WHA?!! Dawg, you're stone-cold trippin'! Brooke was awesome.

(And in no particular order)

Amanda redeemed herself from last week and may have clinched a spot in the top 12.

Syesha and Asia'h...only room for one Whitney in the top 12. I preferred Asia'h over Syesha tonight, but I think Syesha is better overall (technically). But Asia'h is unique...Syesha sounds like so many others who have gone before. It's a toss up for me.

It wasn't Ramiele's strongest performance to date, but she's simply wonderful. I think we'll be seeing more of her. :)

I thought this was Carly's best performance. I love this song and loved the way she sang it. (Tattoo and all! ;) )

Kristy...I don't care how pretty you are or how much country you put into a song, don't ever mess with "Faithfully" again. Ever. EVER! (That's my favorite Journey song and I hated what she did to it.) I'm grumpy again just thinking about it. >:(

Kady...you thought you were going home last week. I think this week you will.

Jennifer, I can't wait to see what you have to say about the girls! See you Thursday!

I wish for once that Carly would wear a sleeve! Between the distraction of her arm and her facial expressions... I just can't get beyond it.

Isn't that a portrait of her on her arm? Ick.

My favorite last night was Brooke.. far better I thought than last week.
I think Carly was my next favorite.. man, that girl can sing!!
I have to say, I liked Asia'h last night too.. she was fun and different and like Chris(Daughtry)Rocks above said, Syesha, though technically good sounds too much like too many other singers.
Amanda surprised me last night.. I really enjoyed her performance and she did look much younger with less makeup.. she's a really pretty girl.. I just wish she'd smile a little more! What's the line in that song?? "She'd be whole lot prettier if she smiled once in a while"
Next in order of preference was Ramiele then Kristy Lee and lastly Kady!
I'm fairly certain Kady is going home tonight and I really can't predict who the second person will be singing their swan song!

I found that with the exception of Amanda, Brooke and Asia'h, everyone was boring. Same old sing the ballad type songs. There are so many fun and popular 80s songs they could have done.

I liked the boys so much better because they did just that. They chose the songs that make you think 80s.

I think it'll be Kady, Kristy Lee and Luke gone tonight. I haven't decided on the 2nd guy. I like the rest of them. Even though I find Danny N irritating, I still am kind of intrigued with seeing what he does every week.

That's my piece!

Hmmm, Carly sang a ballad? Isn't Amanda's predictablity and no versatility a bad thing in this competition?

I don't care if Carly sang the telephone book, like the judges said she could.. her performance last night was truly great.. her tone, breath control and overall range was easily the best of the night!! I've not even been a fan of hers but I have to concede she was great last night. I also agree with Simon that some day soon she'll blow us all away when she picks just the right song. I even liked her personality last night, something I wasn't sure she even had 'til now. And, isn't her Mom gorgeous?? They look more like sisters!!

Anonymous: I agree, everyone was kind of boring. At least there were a few exciting highlights when the boys sang. I don't even care which of the girls get cut at this point, although I'd say Brooke and Carly are the best.

Dori: I also agree, Carly's tattoo and facial expressions are distracting in a bad way, sort of like David A's constant and weird lick lipping (he makes his tongue into a tube). Also her clothes last night were hideous.

Also, Dori, I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't want you to go through life thinking you're saying "must of" when it's "must HAVE" - like "must've". So I wanted to let you know. :)

Eliminations:

Boys: Luke, Chickeze (Danny has a following, much like Sanjaya)

Girls: Kady, Amanda (she was good this week, but she's going to pay for last week's horror show)

The girls were so bland last night that my only comments are about their people in the audience. Carly's Mom was gorgeous and Amanda's fiance was hot!!

Going by my own preferences and intuition, AND by dialidol's predictions, here's who is going to be eliminated tonight:

boys: Luke and David Hernandez (this way AI can get rid of him and his scandal - plus according to dial idol he really is at the bottom)
girls: Kady and Ramiele - although Ramiele is third from the bottom to Syesha according to dialidol, she isn't as good and didn't have the pimp spot, so she'll be the one to go.
