I happened to be channel surfing last night and saw this performance. The amazing thing is that she virtually could not talk after singing. Her voice was so worn out from the week of rehearsals etc. Still, she managed to bring the house down! Believe me, none of the current contestants could make that happen.

I agree with you. Kelly is my FAVORITE American Idol. I really like Carrie, but I have a special place in my heart for Kelly. I would love to see more of the first season performances with Kelly. Does anyone know where I can get them all (and as clear and nice as this one). Thanks for sharing this. :)

Kelly's a fave of mine too. She grew up 20 miles from me after all. But...respectfully submitted...she's a "screamer" and I do wonder how long her voice will last. If she could tone it down ever so slightly, I'd like her better. Okay, so sue me. :-)

No one this season comes close! Maybe after this season the producers will start going for talent again instead of entertainment. One can only hope!

WOW. That's about the only word to describe that performance. I had missed the first season, although I always liked Kelly. This song gave me goosebumbs.
I agree that this season does not even come close to that level of talent. Please, Fox, PLEASE, for the love of GOD, put talent over tripped out "entertainers". There are so many more talented people that could have had a shot, instead of passing through some of these clowns we see in rehearsal weeks.
